Installing drive jumpers Each SATA connector can only handle one drive, so there is no need to adjust jumpers -- you can skip this section. Before you install IDE / ATA drives, you will need to set the drives jumpers. Each IDE / ATA channel can handle two drives, a master and a slave. Consult your motherboard and / or drive's instructions on how to set the jumpers. The jumper configurations are usually printed directly on the drive itself. Drives can be configured in 2 ways: Drive Select or Cable Select.
Really, I know this could be explained better, but check the motherboard and drives manuals, it'll be apparent.
